CREST Discovery and Bronze have moved – here’s what you need to know

CREST Discovery and Bronze levels are accessible at apply.crestawards.org.

We have transitioned from the MyCREST submission platform for Discovery and Bronze levels to the same platform as Star, Superstar, Silver and Gold levels. This is because the MyCREST operator is switching off the platform indefinitely.

The new system - Survey Monkey Apply - is almost identical to the current one, meaning pre-existing users are able to simply log in on the new platform with the same details.

What does this mean for my/my students' data?

The Survey Monkey Apply (the new CREST platform) is owned by Momentive. Momentive will handle your data and will be the new data processor. You can view Momentive's privacy policy here. The British Science Association remains the data controller for the CREST Awards. View our privacy policy here.

What this means for your CREST Award account

If you had an account on MyCREST (the old Discovery and Bronze system), you are able to log in using the same email address on the new platform. You will need to reset your password when you try to initially log in.

If you already have an account on Survey Monkey Apply for Star, SuperStar, Silver and Gold Awards, then this will be your account for all submissions going forward. You will not have two accounts.

What this means if you had a Discovery or Bronze project that was not yet complete

Projects submitted before the 1 December 2021 will be processed offline. Projects that were submitted after the 1 December 2021 will not be processed.

What this means if you had a previously completed project on the system

If you had a project that was completed on the old system you will not be able to see it in your account on the new platform. However, the CREST team keep a record of all students who have achieved a CREST Award in the past 5 years, in line with our retention period. As long as the Award was completed within our retention period, we will have a record of all students who have achieved an Award.

If you want to download copies of your previously uploaded project work, please do this before 16 December 2021. To download your work, log into your MyCREST account, go to the project and click 'Download project work' under Project work.

What are the changes on the new system?

While the new system follows the similar process in submitting for Discovery or Bronze Awards, there are minor changes to note:

1. You can order for Discovery Award certificates in advance of a Discovery project's completion.

2. Discovery and Bronze Award certificates can be ordered blank (without student names).

3. When ordering personalised Discovery and Bronze certificates you will be able to submit multiple projects per school at a time.

Discounts and voucher codes

Since the new system is very similar to the old one, you can still use active voucher codes.
