Star, SuperStar and Discovery
You do not need to upload any work for Star, SuperStar or Discovery Awards.
Bronze
For Bronze, we ask for a sample of work from 10% of your students. E.g. if you have 10 students or less, upload 1 student's work, if you have 20 students, upload 2 students' work. We moderate a sample of Bronze projects so that we can improve our guidance for educators.
Silver and Gold
Please do not include any personal details other than your name. If you include a photo make sure you have the appropriate permissions from everyone included in the photo.
For Silver and Gold, please include all the work for every student you would like us to assess. You will need to upload one CREST profile form per student and a project work.
Video
If you would like to add video, we suggest you upload the video onto a site such as YouTube or Vimeo and include a link to the file in the project work (or attach using the Linked Media attach type for CREST Silver or Gold projects).
Software and other executables
Please don’t include executable files such as software programmes in the file. If you would like to submit executable files for assessment, we suggest you upload it to a repository such as GitHub and include a link in the file.
Artwork and other physical documents
Where your students have created physical documents, such as artwork or handwritten Discovery Passports, you can photograph or scan their work and save as image files (jpg, .jpeg or.png) or zip.
Many photocopiers and printers now have scanning capabilities. Alternatively, you could use a scanner app on your smartphone. If you don’t already have one, this
Lifehacker article suggests several options.
How to zip your students’ work for uploading
Please don’t encrypt or password protect the zip file. We are unable to assess or moderate protected files.
When you upload your students’ work to CREST you will be using a secure connection so there’s no need to encrypt the file as well.
To zip a file on Windows:
- Select the files or folders that you want to include. You may find it easiest to put all the work in a single folder before you start.
- Right-click on the file or folder (or group of files or folders), then point to Send to and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
