            Uploading your students’ work

            Star and SuperStar

You do not need to upload any work for Star or SuperStar Awards.

            Discovery and Bronze

For Discovery and Bronze, we ask for a sample of work from 10% of your students. E.g. if you have 10 students or less, upload 1 student's work, if you have 20 students, upload 2 students' work. We moderate a sample of Discovery and Bronze projects so that we can improve our guidance for educators.

            Silver and Gold

Upload your or your students’ work as individual documents. There is a list of the file types you can use on the upload page in CREST FluidReview.

Please do not include any personal details other than your name. If you include a photo make sure you have the appropriate permissions from everyone included in the photo.

For Silver and Gold, please include all the work for every student you would like us to assess. You will need to upload one profile form per student and a project report (or equivalent).

            Video

If you would like to add video, we suggest you upload the video onto a site such as YouTube or Vimeo and include a link to the file in the project report.

            Software and other executables

Please don’t include executable files such as software programmes in the file. If you would like to submit executable files for assessment, we suggest you upload it to a repository such as GitHub and include a link in the file.

            Artwork and other physical documents

Where your students have created physical documents, such as artwork or handwritten Discovery Passports, you can photograph or scan their work to include it in the zip file.
Many photocopiers and printers now have scanning capabilities. Alternatively, you could use a scanner app on your smartphone. If you don’t already have one, this Lifehacker article suggests several options.

How to zip your students’ work for uploading

Please don’t encrypt or password protect the zip file. We are unable to assess or moderate protected files.
When you upload your students’ work to CREST you will be using a secure connection so there’s no need to encrypt the file as well.
To zip a file on Windows:
            • Select the files or folders that you want to include. You may find it easiest to put all the work in a single folder before you start.
            • Right-click on the file or folder (or group of files or folders), then point to Send to and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
To zip a file on OSX (macOS):
            • Select the files or folders that you want to include. You may find it easiest to put all the work in a single folder before you start.
            • Right-click on the file or folder (or group of files or folders), then choose Compress
